Book

The book that I've read recently is "Torment" by Lauren Kate. The book is the second of the best selling series of Fallen, the trilling sequel is dark and romantic and an absolute page-turner!!!!! You can truly discover the true term of love never dies.

Luce and her beloved angel Daniel are endlessly in love. They are forced apart once more to protect Luce from the Outcast (immortals who want her dead) . Luce is sent to board at Shoreline and Daniel is hesitant to explain why.

Luce is acquainted to her new room mate Shelly and is quickly introduced to Miles and a bunch of other fun people. Shoreline is a very different environment to what she expected and she was totally not use too. Luce learns about her mysterious past lives. But the more she discovers, the more she suspects that Daniel is hiding something.

I think this book was absolutely amazing for teens and I enjoyed it very much. The cliff hanger at the end was impressive and I didn't expect it at all. It finished off the book very well! What can I say the book of love was "Forbidden, eternal, and a love to die for........"

Poem

Miss Kelly I'm not depressed or have a broken heart, it's just a poem. Also I wrote about love because it's just easy! :)

My heart feels like a dying rose, the petals are drooping because it has been put in darkness closed from the outside world to weep it's sorrows alone. No one can carry such a burden, for it will cut you too deep. My heart beats with a pain that is indescribable. All because of those words.....

People rely on just hope but not reality. That is what catches our attention, and that is what brings us to the meaning of life. I ask myself why can't it just be happiness? It's all because of our souls, our souls could fill with joy or bring us such sadness that when a single tear drop falls from you eye it creates such a pool that the moon can reflect it's beauty upon it. But when two souls are searching for love, and not only when they find each other its destiny, they become one.

My Teacher

I would like to nominate Ms Cottie as the best teacher because she makes learning fun and always puts a smile on my face. She has really in depth conversations with learners and always encourages us to do our best. She has a bright, bubbly and funny personality and lights up the room when she comes into class. She is a fun teacher to have and i always look forward to her classes. (Even if she is giving a test!)

My book review

I really enjoyed the book "Fallen" by Lauren Kate. The book was fascinating and kept me wanting to turn the page. I was just a bit confused as I think she left things unexplained and it didn't really make the story make sense? If she was trying to use the cliff hanger format I don't think she used the technique well. Also some bits of the story dragged and I lost interest at times but overall I would give the book a three out five.

The greatest moment in olympic history

The greatest moment in Olympic history was the Jamaican bobsledding team because at first every one thought it was a joke. After all, how could Jamaica, a country known for its year-round sunshine, possibly have a team in bobsledding, an event normally won by teams from places like Switzerland and Norway? Although, during the 1988 Olympics in Calgary, the Jamaican bobsled team (Devon Harris, Dudley Stokes, Michael White, Samuel Clayton, and Aiden van de Mortel) and their coach (Howard Siler) held their own, winning respect and admiration from their peers. Celebrated in the film "Cool Runnings," the snowless country managed to put together a decent bobsled team, and in doing so reminded the world that the Olympics aren't just about sheer athleticism--they're about drive, determination, and heart.

Collaborative writing 4/4

The light under the door, shining through the dark hallway making me question wither to run or not but i here Ellie say "don't you dare think of running away." I hold my breath as she nudges me to open the door. I turned the handle and a brightness of light exploded in front of me. A pillar, in the center of the room and it looked like thousands of dogs and people sitting down facing the pillar. I had no idea why i was here and i was completely over whelmed.I follow Ellie as she leads me over to a spare seat. I sit down my hands shaking with emotion. I scan my eyes across the room. The room was enormous all of the colour of white. Rows and rows of chairs filled the space all accompanied with people and dogs sitting down chatting with one another.."This is where we all meet, soon the leader will be coming she will explain more soon" Ellie said. As i waited in confusion all of a sudden the room fell silent. Like if a feather dropped i swear you could probably here it. No one moved it looked as if everyone was statues. Then the door opened and the whole room stood up. A person walked in, a women with such great beauty it was hard not to look. A faint glow of aura was around her body then she flew up the pillar which what looked like 50meters tall. Once her feet touched the pillar the whole room stood up and bowed, i copied because i didn't know what i was suppose to do but it was almost as if i was forced to by her presence. Soon after everyone stood back down but the dogs stood standing. The women spun slowly around lifting her hands up and a glow of light poured from her hands which touched everyone's faces. My gaze turned towards Ellie the light faintly touching her face. Soon was once dog was turned into a girl. My eyes awe struck with what i just witnessed. Then when everyone was seated including Ellie a voice like an angel called out towards us. I felt her eyes focus on me then I hear Ellie urge me to stand up. I stood up slowly soon i felt all eyes staring at me.

All i remember was the woman's voice say "He is the chosen one."

3 day episode

My 3 day episode is going to be called Deserted. It's based on a group of teenagers stuck on a desert island by themselves forced to survive with the resources provided. My 3 day episode will be similar instead of on a island it would be on the beach. Students will have to be equipped and have basic skills of the wild. Each day they will be given challenges which will test their knowledge. The first day they will set up camp and will be swimming and getting use to their surroundings. Each night they will be making their own fires and cooking their own meals. The second day the activities will all be based in the water. They will also be given surfing lessons for fun. Also each day they will be given a certain amount of leisure time to hang out with friends or by themselves. The third day they will be going to the bush and will be given a map, compass and clues to find a treasure chest at the end.  Then we will pack up and head back to school.

Cost- $50-$70 depending on how many children are coming, but the money will be for food, shelter, transport and lessons.

Sup Journal

Hi, it’s been a very long night, and let’s just say surprising night too. The second day at camp started out fine, a clear blue sky greeting me as I climbed out of the tent. Fresh smells of grass and wild flowers accompanied by the aroma of breakfast cooking on the fire place. I walked out and the noise of students telling friends stories of how their restless night had been. My friend, Ben sat next to me on the log. We chatted for a bit about how the owls and noises of insects awakening in the night disturbed our beauty sleep. But as we were talking the scramble of students getting into a line for breakfast quickly broke the conversation. My stomach was growling and I needed a good kiwi breakfast fast! As we cut through the line as boys usually do, we grabbed our breakfast and headed back for our seat on the log. The frost still on the grass, like a clear blanket of snow and droplets of water dripping off branches fall on the ground making the faintest sound only a butterfly can hear. I turned my head to gaze at everyone by the fire, then my eyes fell onto this girl, she had dark curly hair up to her waist and hazelnut brown eyes completed her complexion. Her tan skin and slim body proportioned exactly right. Her white smile, matching her pearls wrapped around her neck. Probably anyone would want to have this chick as their girlfriend. I didn’t recognize her from out school, so I assumed she was new. She noticed me looking at her so I smiled and she smiled back. I quickly turned away so I didn’t look like a weirdo, Ben on the other hand saw that I was staring at her and had to start to laugh and nudge me which made me look bad. He soon stopped after I gave him evils and I returned to what I was doing which was checking her out. The sound of the horn awakened me from my trance and our teacher made announcements of what we were doing. Today was water sports and he also announced the new girl, he said her name was Pearl and she was a new student and would be in our class for the rest of the year. The teacher said some more stuff but I wasn’t really paying much attention he then handed her over to one of the girls to be her buddy for the day. Soon after everyone was running around getting ready for the day. I jogged over to my tent and found Ben inside already in his board shorts. “Luke, man you were hard out checking that girl back there?” he chuckled. “Well yeah, she is pretty good looking” I replied casually. “Do you reckon you’ve got a chance with her?” he asked again a smirk forming on his face. “If that’s a challenge you’re saying I’m willing to accept” I said while changing into my board shorts and singlet. “You’re on, if you haven’t hooked up with her by the end of the camp you owe me 10 bucks” he said while exiting out of the tent and a hint of excitement in his voice. “Bring it on!” I replied while following him out.

Everyone was lined up boys on one side and girls on the other, quickly the teachers split everyone into groups and fortunately I got put in the same group as Pearl. I said hi to her and she said hi back but she didn’t seem that interested in talking to me, it looked like something was on her mind. Her face was creased with frown lines like she was scared or worried about something; I asked “What’s wrong?” “Oh, nothing I just don’t think I’ll be able to swim today” she replied a bit panicky. “Why’s that?” I asked again. “Um, I think I have a bit of a cold” she answered a bit awkwardly. I think I made things worse and this was the first conversation I had with her and this is how it turned out? All I said back was “Oh…..I’m sure the teacher will understand.” The teachers huddled everyone and we set off down the track towards the river. It was a short five minutes’ walk and soon everyone was in their groups ready for the challenges we would be facing. I scanned the area with my eyes looking if Pearl would still be playing, and I found her leaning against the tree smiling at me with such innocent I forgot what to do. So I just waved back like a dork. She giggled then turned away, her face still looked worried and frightened but she was doing a good job trying to hide it. Ben yelled at me “LUKE, stop looking at the new girl and focus on the game!!!!” Then everyone started cracking up laughing and all I could feel was my cheeks burning hot with embarrassment and anger. I ignored everything around me and put my head in the game. Soon it all started; let’s just say our class is pretty competitive so it was full on. But throughout the whole game I couldn’t stop thinking about her. I don’t know why everywhere I looked there she was smiling at me. It was great for me but I don’t think my team enjoyed it very much, we can put it like this, I was day dreaming half the time and the other half, a ball was getting thrown at my face. After two hours of games we headed back to the camp for lunch. While I was drying off a teacher asked me to help put a tent up for Pearl. Of course I accepted this would be a great opportunity to get to know her. After everyone had eaten lunch and separated off to their groups to hang out. Pearl stood up and walked over to where I was sitting and asked “Are you helping me put up my tent?” “Yeah I actually am” I answered back. “Well, com’n” she said while grabbing my hand to drag me over to her tent. We were fast at putting up the tent and soon found ourselves with nothing to do. We started to talk, “So are you feeling better?”  I asked. “Oh yeah…um, I think I’ll be better by tomorrow” she replied. “Do you like to swim?” I asked trying to get to know her. “Yes of course, I love it. Swimming is my element, I always look forward to when I’m about to swim. The water is the only place where I belong” she replied comfortably. “So where did you get your necklace from?” I asked trying to get the conversation to move. “Oh, it was passed down through my family it started off with my great-great-great-great grandmother” she answered smiling. “That’s a lot of greats” I replied laughing. The conversation continued till dinner. And I thought I really did get to know her. Soon I would be getting my 10 bucks. Soon the sunset was setting behind us and it looked like different angles and lines painted delicately on to a canvas with such perfection that every time you opened your eyes, you saw something new. Pearls element was the water and I soon realized mine was outdoors. This was what I wanted to see every day.

Dinner was over and everyone was having dessert, which were roasted marshmallows. People were singing and others were just chatting with the person next to them. At that time I was talking to Ben then I glanced over to where Pearl was sitting and I saw her get up and leave. At first I thought she was going to her tent to put on a jacket because all she was wearing was her togs and it was freezing out her. Then when I came to think f it she didn’t even swim. But instead of walking to her tent she was walking the opposite way. She was walking into the bush, heading on the trail to the river. I stood up and made an excuse to Ben so I could stop talking to him and then I followed Pearl. I stood a fair way back following her. I thought to myself why does she want to walk in the bush by herself, its dark and cold. The sounds of leaves rustling in the night made things a whole lot spookier. I got to the river and I was hiding in the bush, there were sounds everywhere. The night was a whole new different perspective, the wind biting against my face sending goose bumps all over my body. I see her, just the glimpse of her taking off her clothes and going into the water. I moved forward egger in wonder to find out what she was doing. Curiosity over ruled and I stepped out into the open. Her face blank in shock when she saw me, I didn’t know what to say. All I saw was Pearl on the sand her long hair wet, her skin shiny from the moonlight and a tail replacing her legs. She soon realized what I was starring at and dived into the water with such elegance I wanted to jump in with her. I didn’t see her for awhile; I couldn’t believe what I just saw. My legs wouldn’t move and if felt like my legs were frozen. But then, Pearl’s face appeared on the rippling surface and all I saw in her eyes was the look of apology and a tear rolling down her cheek.

Reflection

This term has been really fun. It's been interesting meeting new people in my classes and catching up with old friends. I think I've made new friendships and strengthened others. In some classes i don't know anyone so it forces me to step outside of my comfort zone and meet new people. I really enjoy my 10IL class they're very loud and they are all really nice to be around with.

Settling in a routine has been quite easy then it was in year 9 because I'm already familiar with my surroundings and focusing on my time management is essential now because I'm very busy at home and i need to complete my home learning. My teachers are all very nice but sometimes it's hard to concentrate because I'm distracted and i talk to much. I think that is an aspect i can improve for myself.

My Whanau is always nice to come back to after a long holiday. My relationship with my tutor is growing stronger and I'm opening myself more to them and interacting with them more. They are all so fun to around with and i am having fun not being the turds of the school. So this term has been really great and I cant wait for the end of the ear.

Chcolate Cupcakes

I choose to make chocolate cupcakes because I'm very bad a baking as you need the virtue of patience which i have to master. My mother in an experienced baker through being taught by my grandmother. I think this is a nice challenge due to everything that i try to bake it comes out as a disaster. I received this recipe by my mother and she helped me bake just in case i burned down the house.

Chocolate cupcakes
 125g butter, softened
125g caster sugar
2 eggs lightly beaten
125g self-raising flour
3 tbsp cocoa powder
2 tbsp milk
1/2 tsp vanilla essence

1. Preheat the oven to 180 C. Place 12 paper cake cases into the hole of a 12-hole muffin tin.
2. In a large bowel, beat the butter and sugar until light and creamy, using an electric hand mixer, then gradually whisk in the eggs until well blended. In a clean bowel, sift the flour and cocoa together, then fold into the butter mixture, using a metal spoon, along with the milk and vanilla essence. Divide the mixture evenly between the cake cases.
3. Bake in the hot oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the cakes are firm to touch. Remove from the oven and transfer to wire racks to cool completely.

Over all i think the experience was fun. I bonded with my mother and my cupcakes didn't fail. They were really scrumptious and i will try maybe when I'm a bit more confident and advance do something spectacular like may be making a roast!! haha

Creative writing

My dice was: 1, 3, 6 ,2

My name is Anastasia and I am 21 years old. I have just finished my degree in photography and now I am working part time. I love to take photos. My first camera I received was from my aunty on my twelfth birthday. She said I look the most like my mother and thought that I might like it because it was my mother’s dream to become a photographer. After that day I never looked back. I won competitions at my schools and at art fairs when I was at high school. Photograph was my everything. But usually my life was pretty normal. I have always been an average girl. Never popular but I was never a geek. I got good grades never the top of my class except for art. I did my chores and my homework and occasionally would get in trouble from my teachers if I talked to loud.  I have honey coloured hair and green eyes and I am the second youngest out of six kids.  My mother died giving birth to my younger brother Luke who is now 18, this is his last year at school before going to college. After that day our father has brought all six kids up by himself well almost by himself. My older sister Emerald dropped out of school to take over my mother’s jobs around the house. She had to look after Luke and I while the rest of the kids went to school. She was the mother over the house then she met this man at the age of 25, they fell in love and got married 2 months later. Now she is 29 with a son who is 2 years old and is a stay at home mom. Then there is Andre he is now 27. He works as a carpenter with my father. He is learning all the skills so he can take over the business when my father retires. After him there are the twins Romeo and Jaletteina they are now 25 years old. I was closest to Jaletteina out of all my siblings we would always play together but we would always fight. She is now living in Australia studying to be a doctor and Romeo is now working as an architecture in Italy. We were a poor family but it never stopped us all trying to achieve our dreams. Our mother always told us “Live as if you were to die tomorrow, learn as if you were to live forever.”
One day I went to work as usual. Got in, sat on the computer and started to create a portfolio for my company. I worked for the New York Times getting pictures for the articles. I also worked as a magazine editor for teenagers. My project this week was to go to a concert and take pictures of a new band for the herald and create a 4 page spread of the band for the magazine.  The number one teen sensation. The usual. I had heard of them before so I knew a bit about them. After a long day at work I went back to my flat and had pizza for dinner and decided what to wear for the concert and the interviews. We would be doing the cover shoot early the next morning and interviews after lunch. I went to bed at 10.00pm watching a movie. This was probably a dumb idea because I had to wake up at 6.00am the next morning. That night I slept a dreamless night. I woke up early the next morning got ready for the shoot left a t 7.00am, got at the studio around 8.00 and got the photo shoot ready for the band. Around 9.00am the band arrived, I mainly knew this because there was a lot of screaming outside. Four boys walked into the studio. They were all really good looking. It was like slow motion, each one walked in on the right queue as if they rehearsed it for hours but none of them fell out of place. They were four different bodies but one mind. One boy stood out the most he looked at least my age. Black hair hazel eyes. And very, very good looking. Well they were all good looking but I think he was the best! The photo shoot was great, they all co-operated well but the weird thing was when I took their individual close-up photos all of their eyes had a ring of white just before the pupil. It was almost misty looking, like what clouds look like. Anyway the photos came out great and the shoot finished around 10.30am. I headed off to go produce the photos at my office and edit them as well. As I loaded the photos on to the computer the photos of the boys came out so well, I didn’t think I needed to edit them. The faces looked so artificial. These boys could be Barbie’s future husbands! Forget Ken these boys were so amazing. Any male model would kill to have these faces. After about 2 hours of sorting out the pictures for the magazine I headed back home to get ready for the interviews.
I got to the interview at 2.30pm and got ready for the first member to arrive for his interview. The first member was Aresenio he had blonde hair and blue eyes. He looked like a surfer all the girls in bikinis would be going for. The second member was Damien he had black hair with green eyes and he looked kind of intimidating at first, I think he is the type of person with very strong opinions. The third member was Karsten and he had light brown hair and he seemed the nicest out of all of them. The last member was Zarek, the man I thought that was the most attractive. I think I must have been a bit flustered when I was with him because when he left the room I found out that my notes had been written everywhere. Not a good idea for a magazine. I asked them all the same questions and they practically answered the same thing except for what they enjoy to do in their spare time. They are all from Greek and came to America to pursue their singing dream. There accents were really attractive, a mixture between an Italian accent and a French accent. After trying to sort myself out I headed off to get ready for the concert. I was excited and a bit scared. But I thought I’d be okay. When the concert finally started the crowd was really excited it was almost over whelming. But man can those boys sing!!! They were amazing, vocals perfect and harmonies like birds chirping on a sunny morning. They mainly sang love pop songs I guess for all the girls. They were quite catchy. I took lots of pictures and I think I got a few good ones. After the concert I went back stage to see the boys. They were all sweaty and smiling satisfied with their performance. I think most girls would have killed to be in place right now. Zarek came up to me and started to have a conversation with me. “Hey Anastasia” he said smiling with his cute dimple. “Hey, how was your concert?”I asked smiling back. “I think we did pretty well, what did you think?” he asked back. “Well, actually I think you guys did really well” I smiled giggling a bit. “Um, I was just wondering would like to go out and grab something to eat after?” he asked. “Um…..” was all I could say. “It’s okay, I mean it’s late anyway…” he trailed off in a ring of excuses. I felt bad if I said no and plus he was good looking. “Sure when do you want to go?” I asked smiling. “Really?” he asked surprise. “Why I just said yea” I replied confused. “Right um, we can go now it you want?” he replied back. “Okay” I said grabbing his arm and heading for the door.
That night was so amazing but really weird. We went to the mall and sat down and just talked. We ordered some food at the food court but for some reason he didn’t eat anything. I mean wouldn’t you be starving after a 2 hour long concert. He just said “I’m not hungry.”  I left it at that, so we just started talking about a lot of things. He was a really nice person. I was really attracted to him. After I ate we left and went for a walk. I was walking beside him and we were alone on a street we were heading for the park. When we got to the entrance of the park. The moon was shining on his face. His eyes turned completely white except for the black pupil. I was so scared, he looked dangerous. I started to run then he grabbed my arm. All of a sudden my legs were in the air. He pulled me up so my I was face to face with him. “What I you doing to me let me go” I cried out loud. “I’m sorry” he whispered looking in my eyes. “Zarek please don’t do whatever you’re going to do” I sobbed. “I can’t do that” he answered angrily with himself. “What are you?” I asked. “I’m your worst nightmare” he answered then it went

My Holiday!!!

My holiday was really fun! Most of the time I spent overseas. My first week was in Singapore. We stayed at the hotel called Pan Pacific. The first day we just went to sleep because we were so tired from our flight. It was 10 hours on the air plane. The second day we went to China town and looked around then we went for a swim at the pool. The third day we went to Marina Bay, the view was very cool because you got a good view of what the city looked like and it was the best when you went at night. The rest of the days we just mingled around the malls and walked around the city.

The next three weeks I was in Indonesia visiting my family. We went shopping a lot and went to visit family members in the city. One place we went to was called Rumah Jambuluwuk. It was up in the mountains and all of my extended family came. There was a pool, flying fox, an obstacle course and lots of little playgrounds. Then we spent one weekend for my little sisters birthday at KFC. She was turning five and lots of people we didn't know came. But over all My trip to Singapore and Indonesia was really fun!
